About AACA

Al Oun for Alzheimer’s Patients Care Association is registered as per Association law no. 51 year 2008 on June 26, 2020, in the Ministry of Social Development as a non-for-profit Association under the Ministry of Health with a National ID (2020071118156).
AACA is an official member with Alzheimer’s Disease International (ADI) and a certified member with Dementia Friend’s Global Program.

Our Aim

Our Aim is to raise awareness and offer support for people with Alzheimer’s Disease and their caregivers in Jordan.

OUR MISSION

  • Creating a national dementia registry that will quantify the burden of Alzheimer’s and Dementia in Jordan
  • Raising awareness through campaigns and social media platforms.
  • Advocate for the needs and rights of patients, improving quality of life of patients and caregivers, engaging in early diagnosis at a national level.

OUR VISION

  • To raise awareness about Alzheimer’s and other Dementias in Jordan
  • Supporting patients and caregivers, funding research and ultimately aiming for a cure

Who are we?

We are a non-for-profit Association made up of a group of volunteers: professionals, medical Doctors, and interested individuals in Dementia.

What have AACA achieved so far:

  1. A walk to raise awareness
  2. A climb to raise awareness
  3. A song to raise awareness
  4. Attended several conferences
  5. Lighting up Jordan in purple during World Alzheimer’s Month
  6. Launched the program of Dementia Friends Jordan
  7. Getting our own office (The Offices)

What is Alzheimer’s Disease:

  1. Alzheimer’s is a type of dementia that causes problems with memory, thinking and behavior. Symptoms usually develop slowly and get worse over time, becoming severe enough to interfere with daily tasks.
  2. Alzheimer’s Disease accounts for 60 to 80 percent of dementia cases.
  3. Alzheimer’s has no current cure, but treatments for symptoms are available and research continues.

What is Dementia:

  1. Dementia is a general term for a decline in mental ability severe enough to interfere with daily life. Memory loss is an example. Alzheimer’s is the most common type of Dementia.
  2. Dementia is not a specific disease. It’s an overall term that describes a wide range of symptoms associated with a decline in memory or other thinking skills severe enough to reduce a person’s ability to perform everyday activities.
